Then, with the group selected, move Podium's light slider to the right. They are simple to create, just create any object (a cube works) and group it. Their 3D structure is invisible to Podium's camera. Because of their speed in rendering, they are often used in light fixtures with dim settings. Omni lights, called point lights by some other programs, are very fast to render but create only hard edge shadows, which can work against a photo-real rendering.So, think of the Dark slider as a slider with the word "ambient light" on the far left and "sunlight" on the far right. In otherwords, darken the background/sky color to create darker shadows, and lighten the background/sky color to create lighter shadows. The strength of the shadows (how much contrast) can be adjusted by how much ambient light is in the scene. All the way to the left, effectively is the same as turning off Display shadows. When the Display shadows setting is turned on, you can adjust the strength of the sunlight by adjusting the Dark slider only. Sunlight, which is enabled by turning on the Display shadows setting in the Shadow Settings palette.Ambient light which is controlled only by the sky or background color and not by any other setting (though see the note about the Dark slider in #2).Podium actually has 4 different light sources: Then you can use the Light and Reflect slider to modify the selected face properties. The easiest way to do this is to double-click the component or group, putting it in edit mode, then triple-click on the component to select all it's faces. But, you can only apply Light or Reflect parameters (using Podium's slider) to selected faces, not selected groups or components.
